Founded in 1916, AFSA has 400 corporate members and is located in downtown Washington, DC near the Farragut West Metro. The mission of the AFSAEF is to educate consumers of all ages on personal financial concepts and to help them realize the benefits of responsible money management and to understand the credit process.
The Director is responsible for program implementation and outreach to educators, administrators, state department of education officials and others; social media marketing; assisting in the development of other marketing materials, website content, state standard updates; writing speeches and developing newsletters; and assisting with online grant applications and reporting.
Specifically, the Director is tasked with delivering a high-quality program which motivates instructors to use its online financial course and increase enrollment to one million students by the end of 2018. The Director reports to the AFSAEF Executive Director and handles social media, technical assistance, and outreach to various stakeholder groups via presentations and newsletters.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 to 5 years’ professional experience demonstrating significant involvement in the financial education arena, social media marketing, and having a familiarity with the financial services industry. Candidate should have proven success with social media / marketing and be able to quantify results and understand trends in the digital space. Proficiency in online educational programming is desired. Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills with a high degree of detail is essential. Background with workplace financial education and gaining support of association members on key initiatives is preferred.
