ASA seeks an experienced membership coordinator capable of not only enhancing the benefits of ASA membership, but also achieving double-digit growth in his or her first year at our association. The Membership Coordinator provides caring, comprehensive, high-quality customer care to members via telephone and email. He or she retains and engages existing members while increasing renewal rates, join rates and membership product sales.
The qualified candidate will possess not only creativity, passion and energy, but also the solid analytical foundation required to evaluate join and renewal rates trends or the effectiveness of membership premiums by analyzing response rates versus costs. Candidates who have a demonstrated passion for sailing, and those adept with Excel and FM Pro databases are highly preferred.
ASA offers a competitive salary and benefits for qualified candidates.
Serve as the most knowledgeable steward of ASA’s FM Pro based membership database, capable of producing all membership lists, reports and analyses.
Facilitate the successful completion of membership joins and renewals, including correspondence, dues notices, and follow-up.
Build and sustain strong member relations through attentive detail in handling member inquiries by phone and email.
Document and contribute to the improvement of current membership processes and procedures, particularly with the goal of improving department efficiency.
Test and optimize member join and renewal communication messages and enhance benefits in order to yield significant membership growth.
Oversee and drive membership related content on the Association’s social media channels to improve the membership community and ultimately grow its ranks.
Develop and implement membership products for sale to leverage the Association’s strong website reach for ancillary membership revenue.
Research and develop cost-effective channels to reach and secure new members, either within the sailing industry or in other active sports
Writing member solicitation letters, member marketing materials and social media posts

A passion for sailing or the water coupled with an eagerness to share this with others
Minimum of two years in membership with duties touching on the majority of responsibilities listed above
Solid interpersonal and customer service skills
Self-motivated and high energy
Ability to budget time efficiently, handle numerous, diverse tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Solid analytical skills and ability to use Excel to manipulate and analyze membership data
Familiarity with databases and performing database queries, particularly if background includes knowledge of FileMaker Pro
College degree required
Proficiency in writing professional marketing communications
